Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man is reissued as part of the Donovan Paper Sleeve Collection Vol. 5, commemorating the 60th anniversary of his debut in 2025 and his upcoming 80th birthday in 2026, and marks the first-ever paper sleeve edition of the album, faithfully replicating the US original LP with an A-style jacket, a replica Japanese LP obi strip, and an inner sleeve, while featuring a brand-new 2026 remaster pressed on high-quality Blu-spec CD2 and including new liner notes, lyrics, and Japanese and English translations, plus five bonus tracks. Originally released in 1968 after Donovan traveled to India with The Beatles to study Transcendental Meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the album presents one of his most adventurous and eclectic works, blending psychedelic rock, jazz, traditional folk, Latin music, and Indian influences with his intimate, whisper-like vocal style, and includes the US Top 5 hit "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and the advance single "Jennifer Juniper," which reached No. 26 on the US charts, while the album itself peaked at No. 20 on the US album chart.
